Literacy Volunteers of the Capital Region holds a weekly Sewing, English and Workplace Skills (SEWS) class at the Women's Club of Albany. This program is designed to teach immigrant/refugee women sewing skills as well as introduce them to workplace skills, Civics, and the English language.

Springtime Sparkles Fundraiser

Bring a friend and enjoy a fun evening at Glennpeter Jewelers Diamond Centre while you support the WCA and the Food Pantries for the Capital District.

Admission is $20.00 per person and includes light fare, live music, fashions by Beck's and door prizes. Tickets are non-refundable.

All receipts from the cash bar are donated to the fundraiser.

Shop our silent auction for great gifts for family, friends or yourself, and enjoy browsing the sparkling selections at Glennpeter!

Raffle tickets may be purchased at time of registration or at the event for a chance to win a beautiful themed basket.

In response to the wide variety of member interests, the Program Committee plans events that engage membership and promote education, inclusion, participation and enjoyment.
The Committee partners with other WCA Committees to ensure that programs promote the values of the organization.
Past programs include: hikes, a Family and Friends Picnic, museum tours, bus trip, local theater and an online educational program on healthy living.
The Committee welcomes members' ideas and input to create meaningful programs.

Drop off all other donations Tuesday, Sept. 2, and Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m.
Stay tuned for other potential drop-off times.
Yes to clean, intact items such as women and children's fall and winter clothing.
Yes to vintage and new furniture, lamps, small appliances, tools, yard and garden items, art, holiday and household decorative items; accessories (hats, scarves, purses, shoes, jewelry); tableware, glassware, linens, rugs, toys and books.
No to mattresses, bed pillows, couches, large appliances, vinyl records, car seats or exercise equipment which will not be accepted.
