On behalf of The Woman’s Club of Albany, we invite you to attend A Community Conversation at the WCA on Wednesday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m.
We have invited members and leaders of the community who have supported the WCA’s grant applications, other not-for-profit representatives, and our active supporters in Albany City and New York State government. The WCA will provide hors d’oeuvres and light fare.
To those of you who joined us last year for the first Community Conversation, we hope you will return to bring your ideas and information about current projects to the discussion. This year, we hope to include new organizations, working in the areas of: women and children’s health and safety issues, educational and literacy efforts, homelessness and poverty, history and restoration, and more.
We hope to meet with and involve members of our larger community of informed citizens, elected officials, not-for-profit organizations, and leaders. At this meeting, we expect to:
- Discuss the community service and support the WCA provides to organizations that serve women and children in the Capital Region, and find new ways to help the larger community and other charities.
- Invite community input and explore options for achieving our dual mission of philanthropy and preservation of the WCA’s historic building and its impact on the stability and economic development of the neighborhood.
- Recap the WCA’s restoration efforts and let you know about the work we’ve done and are in the process of doing, and discuss pending priorities for work with community and civic organizations in areas of mutual interest in a climate that demands economic development.
Thank you to those who have supported and provided endorsements for The Woman’s Club grant applications. We have been successful with two grants this year, and are beginning the process of getting renovations to the porch under way, while continuing to pursue opportunities to stabilize and restore our 1895 building.
We sincerely hope you can attend. Please RSVP by registering on the website. Thank you for your support and interest. We hope to see you on October 23rd.
